What's the Monster

I have been exploring strategies for managing and communicating during intense emotional states, particularly tailored for neurodivergent individuals like myself. These strategies include techniques like "name it to tame it" and mastering effective emotional expression. I wanted to create something related to managing emotions effectively.

After brainstorming, I found inspiration in drawing emotional expressions as monsters, as emotions sometimes feel monstrous. This helped me regulate my feelings and destigmatize them.

This led to the idea for the 'What's The Monster?' app. When emotions overwhelm us, it can be hard to express verbally, especially for neurodivergent individuals. This app enables users to share their emotions and create customized tips for regulating emotions, both for themselves and for guiding others in providing support.

After conceiving the idea, I created a wireframe in Figma and designed the app, learning new techniques along the way. I'm hopeful to bring this app to life in the future! The use case for this could be expressing emotions to partners or family members, neurodivergent children who may be non-verbal, and could even be expanded into professional settings within a working team environment.
